Christine's journey into painting began after a chance meeting with an artist acquaintance that encouraged her to go along to her local art group. There she painted in watercolour for a number of years, enjoying the unpredictable results of the medium.
After receiving oil paints, as a gift, new dimension of painting was discovered. This led to an entirely different direction and a more progressive oil painting group. Christine joined an art group Art and Soul, which opened the floodgates to more inspirational ideas using different techniques including acrylic, charcoal and pastel.
"As a result of my interest in local heritage and folklore, and also our beautiful moorland scenery, I aim to produce paintings which capture the atmosphere and essence of our history and landscape."
She has been painting as a hobby, on and off, for the past eight years or so. She started by trying to copy her favourite artists or photos from magazines etc. but now her work is her own style and imagination.
Christine loves local history and folklore and our wild and beautiful moorland scenery so she is never short of inspiration!
